Steve Spinner, M.S.W.
Substance Use Therapist
Born and raised in New Jersey, Sean moved out West to pursue employment in the outdoors. He started working for a wilderness therapy program in 2009 and fell in love with the challenge of working with teenagers who were struggling with various mental health and substance use issues. He believes in the power of nature and its ability to help calm even the most chaotic minds.
After the incredible experience of helping teens and their families, Sean decided to attend the University of Utah to pursue his Master’s Degree in Social Work. During this time Sean worked within the prison population to help clients in their sobriety and making healthier choices for themselves. Sean was also able to complete an internship at the VA where he again worked primarily with adults struggling with substance use and dependence.
Sean believes in the power of connection and how it can help people find meaning in their lives. He is passionate about creating relationships in which clients feel comfortable being vulnerable and addressing their substance use struggles and the underlying reasons behind their use.
During his free time, Sean is exploring his new found passion for mountain biking as well as all things outdoors. He also spends a lot of time exploring Salt Lake City with his pup Layla."
