Kenny Scaggs, C.S.U.D.C.
Drug and Alcohol Counselor
Kenny has been with Vista since 2006 and has worked with adolescents since 2001. Kenny has previously ran a young adult transitional living home in Coeur d'Alene Idaho where there was a focus on providing a stable living environment, an emphasis on peer mentoring, teaching life skills, and attending 12 step meetings. Kenny has also worked in the mountains of Northern Idaho and Montana as a field guide for an adolescent wilderness therapy program. The job that started the passion for working with adolescents was at a group home in Virginia. This job provided an opportunity for him to work with adjudicated youth in a home setting and helping them foster dignity within and to teach them how to develop the potential that they need to succeed.
Kenny's early college education was focused on studying theology and later he spent a year studying in Israel living and working on a kibbutz. Kenny attended the University of Utah's Substance Abuse Education Program and is licensed as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor. He was able to intern working with homeless veterans enrolled in an intensive residential program designed to help clients address addictions and transition to independence, security, and good health. Kenny's work as a case manager and addictions counselor further developed his desire to provide care for those with addiction.
Kenny has a love for the outdoors, is an avid reader, and loves to travel to his home state of Georgia to visit his family.
